The CTEA office received a letter dated MArch 18, 2016 from Minster Del Duca advising of the following changes to Regulation 413/05 - Vehicle Weight and Dimensions for Safe, Productive and Infrastructure Friendly Vehicles, which took effect February 5, 2016:

1.  Extension of wheelbase allowance for tractors from 6.2 metres to 6.8 metres on S Train Double Trailer combinations, provided  the sum of the trailer's wheelbases is reduced according to a trade-off table. The Box Length on B-Train Double Trailers remains at 20 metres. The increase facilitates the accommodation  of technologies required to meet air quality and greenhouse gas emissions mandates, more comfortable sleeper berths and the use of moose bumpers.

2.  Longer aerodynamic devices extending beyond the rear of commercial motor vehicles (boat tails), other than buses, recreational vehicles and truck-trailer combinations, up to 1.52 metres in length. Other dimensional conditions to the device apply to protect the windshield of cars in the event of a rear-end collision.

3.  Minor changes to address a technical issue such as when SPIF trucks are pulling pre-SPIF trailers and housekeeping  changes correcting typographical issues.
